FAQ
Lash Lift
-
Lash lifts enhance the natural lash with lotions that manipulate the hair fibers to form the shape of a curl to make them appear longer. Unlike perms, the brand I use has no formaldehyde, no harsh chemicals, and no perm ingredients.
-
Yumi™ is the brand I use for all lash lift services. The formula was created in France and made popular in Beverly Hills. It’s an exclusive brand that can only be purchased if you were personally trained by the company. What makes Yumi™’s formula stand out is that it has a third step: a light keratin treatment, while other formulas only have two steps: the lifting lotion and the setting lotion.
-
Lash lifts can last up to 2 months, some clients say their lift lasts longer. The longevity of a lift can depend on your lifestyle: daily use of mascara, oily products, exposure to steam, hormonal imbalances, and certain medications. I recommend a lash conditioner that is formulated to help lash lifts last long, it is a clear mascara applied twice a day.
-
It is safe to get a lash lift every 2 months. If the lift lasts longer than 2 months then you may get it whenever you want them to look brand new again.
-
It will not damage or make your lashes fall off. The formula I use heals, hydrates, and replenishes natural lashes making them stronger and appear thicker.
-
Short or long, thin or thick lashes are candidates for a lash lift. The results for any type of lash will make a beautiful difference but don't expect short lashes to have the result of someone with long and thick lashes. If you have short lashes I recommend getting a lash serum to help them grow longer before booking a lash lift for the best results.
-
Some natural lashes are stubborn but I’m confident to say that after 6 years of experience I’ve perfected my technique for it to work with any lash type that comes my way.
-
Keeping away from oily products is important to help your lash lift and brow lamination last, also helps not loosen up the glue used for extensions. Ingredients like cyclopentasiloxane and hexylene glycol.
-
Following aftercare instructions. Staying away from oily products and waterproof mascara because both slowly bring down the curl. Use swiping motions (up and down, no rubbing) to remove makeup from lashes. Buy a lash conditioner to maintain the health of your lashes, keeps them strong, and help the lift last longer.
-
If you have hormonal imbalances, take birth control, hormonal medications, weight loss medications, prescribed skin medications, or have extreme stress they may affect your lift and the hair on your body. Lastly, constant exposure to steam, daily use of eye makeup, sleeping position & oily skin/eyelids will wear down the lashes.
Lash Extensions
-
Lash extensions are faux mink lashes that are applied to your natural lash with a semi-permanent adhesive for a longer and thicker result that your natural lashes aren’t able to give you.
-
Lash extensions can last up 4-6 weeks. Lash extensions are not permanent, the glue is semi-permanent so extensions fall off over time because the glue loosens. Lash retention or longevity is affected by lifestyle:
– Sleeping position: if you sleep on your stomach or side.
– Oily skin and oily products: oils loosen up the glue faster.
– Cotton: these fibers pull on extensions so a satin pillowcase is recommended.
– Exercise/sweat, exposure to steam: loosen up the glue if done excessively.
– Some medications: birth control pills and weight loss pills are known to affect hair.
- Not drying them with a fan after washing them: the glue absorbs water & tears.
-
2-3 week touch-up appointments are needed to maintain lash health. At every fill-in appointment, I remove the extensions that have grown out and replace them with a new extension. If you let your extensions grow out it is unhealthy for your natural lash. Your extensions will look brand new at the end of every touch-up.
-
If you follow the correct aftercare your natural won't get damaged. I'm trained to keep the integrity of your natural lash which means I don't apply a lot of glue or heavy extensions.
Extensions could damage natural lashes if you don’t clean them often, let them grow out on their own, apply mascara on them, or pick at them.
-
You may get them wet at any time. It is encouraged to wash them with a lash shampoo at least once a day, then drying them with a fan.
-
I don’t recommend it because it may be a hassle to clean off and it affects how long your extensions will last on you.
-
I do not do fills on clients that have extensions from another artist. You must book a full set and a removal appointment together so I can start new.
-
It depends on your lifestyle and preference of look! If you desire thicker or longer lashes because your natural lashes can’t offer you that then extensions are the right service for you. If your schedule doesn’t allow you to do the 2-3 week maintenance of extensions then a lash lift would be best since it can be done every 2-4 months.
Brow Lamination
-
I use Yumi’s formula to change the brow hairs into a more manageable texture that allows you to comb them into your desired shape without the use of brow gel. The treatment is to tame unruly hairs, coarse hairs, and hairs that grow in different directions.
-
Brow lamination can last up to 2 months. After the treatment, you may get your brows tinted, waxed, or threaded at any time while your laminated brows last.
-
Yes, the service helps the brows look uniform and give the illusion of filled-in brows or a fuller shape.
-
The Yumi™ formula nourishes the hairs and the service is done with utmost care to not overprocess them.
-
Brow laminations are safe to book every 2 months.
